      About the Coffee
With a history of 600 years, coffee has an irreplaceable place in today's world. The legend is that the name of Coffee sprang from the name of an Ethiopian town called Kaffa. An Ethiopian dervish named Shazili noticed that goats feeding on fruit of a certain tree became vibrant and lively, so next he cooked these fruits in boiling water to become the person who discovered coffee.

“Coffee comes from Yemen” is a saying in Turkish. Actually, this saying reflects a fact, as coffee beans first became a beverage in Yemen. And in older times, sufis were used to drink coffee to keep themselves awake during worshiping and rituals. From Ethiopia and Yemen, coffee continued its journey to reach Mecca and Egypt.
The first known coffee house was opened in Cairo in 1521 to be followed by other houses in Aleppo, Damascus, Baghdad and Tehran. As those were the times when Cairo, Damascus and Aleppo were under Ottoman rule, coffee beans made their way to Istanbul. The first coffee house in Italy was opened in 1645 after coffee beans were imported to European territory by Ottoman tradesmen.

From then on coffee spread to other regions of the world, including the Far East. From mortar to coffee machine – Fakir is re-writing the story of coffee with ‘Kaave’.
